Description Mathias D 2011-03-14 11:29:06 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

I noticed that many of kde bugs resulting in bad managed setting files in .kde folder. Since many versions now I was able to fix the most crashes of kde software by deleting whole .kde directory. I personalize my kde and am angry if that happans most of time when upgrading to newer versions of that software. Last time I had differnd errors, I fixed so, was the kde 4.6 upgrade until now. The folders are not well-arranged for me to pic up pices of it and delete them one by one. I think: If kde is personable very well, you SHOULD give more attantion to user files. That could may help to fix many errors.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Start asking users witch made bug reports, if they could fix their erors by simpel deleting .kde folder.

Actual Results:
errors disappear simply by deleting .kde folder

Expected Results:
errors could better be fixed when lying more focus on differnet settings, users made.

I noticed that very often after upgrades since last years.

Please report this problem for each application/setting that is causing bugs when upgrading. Ideally, add the previous configuration files that are causing problems. Those cases need to be fixed on a per-application base.

The other option would be some way to reset the settings per application, without losing all of .kde/share/ contents. This is bug 74883.
