Description bill 2011-03-07 17:11:22 UTC
Application: okular (0.10.4)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) "release 3"
Qt Version: 4.6.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.34.7-0.7-default i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 11.3 (i586)"

-- Information about the crash:
Had several PDF files open (12?). Was reading one, but pages below about p. 8 displayed blank on the main screen while miniatures in the index panel showed content.

I believe one of the files came from microsoft.com. Okular previously crashed while reading that document (a data sheet on Lync VoIP system). <doing research; no intention to install :-)

On a notebook running openSuse 11.3 and KDE 4.4.4

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

KDE 4.4 is very old now, we are at KDE 4.6, so you might want to consider to update.
Also we need to know your poppler version.
Also if you attach one of the files that is making Okular crash it will help.

Had 5 PDF's open in Okular. Reading a 256 page doc, pages appeared blank. Using index to jump back, then page down to scroll caused a crash of that document only. Okular remained open with other files.

This bug could be related to bug 267035
Comment 4 Fabio D'Urso 2014-05-08 13:33:03 UTC
Can you still reproduce this bug with Okular >= 0.19.0 ( KDE >= 4.13.0 )?
We have fixed some things about memory management since then and this might be one of them.
Thanks for caring about Okular :)

OpenSuse 13.1 doesn't yet offer Okular 0.19 so I can't test, but crash problem has not recurred lately. I use Okular almost constantly (4 files open at the moment) so it seems to me that this bug could be put on hold at least. Thanks for the fix :-)
