Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1) OS: Linux When reading a PDF document with a A4 page on my notebook screen (1366x768) there is space wasted in Okular. I put the application on fullscreen to get the maximum amount of display area. Unfortunately, the page display which is at the bottom of the screen cannot be hidden or moved. I have a lot of horizontal space (16:9) but vertical screen is valuable, so I‘d love being able putting that page navigation either to the sidebar on the left (which I don‘t need to hide) or to the toolbar at the top which I don‘t want to hide. The status bar doesn‘t show anything else than the page numbers (does it?), so moving it to another location where it doesn‘t waste screen space would be appreciated. Reproducible: Always
There is already bug 157284, but it was about the generic ability to hide the bottom bar. You (and I) propose to convert it into a movable standard toolbar. In order to show that it’s possible and how easy it is, here a mockup/prototype in PyQt: https://gist.github.com/1081531 In above mentioned bug, there was also the argument that toolbars should only be for actions, not for information, but it was rebuffed by the counterargument that this is neither true in other existing KDE apps (konqueror has a address bar, which displays information), nor even in okular itself (the zoom box is informational, too) PS: the typographic apostrophe is the other way around, like this: ↓ I get it with Shift + Alt Gr + N, for you this might vary (maybe it’s “B” for non-german keyboards)
