Description 2482711 2011-01-17 16:03:27 UTC
Application: kwin (4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1))
KDE Platform Version: 4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1)
Qt Version: 4.7.0
Operating System: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 10.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Fresh install of Kubuntu 10.10, added repositories, installed synaptic package manager and baobab, then changed desktop effects. This is a dell latitude D400 ~2003. It can't handlemost of the effects. Desktop grid is very helpful to me, so I use it, and it mostly works. Had the same unpredictable crashes with ubuntu with the plasma package installed over it. Every once in a while, when I go to the desktop grid, and then choose a desktop, I get a black display for a split second, then everything comes back and the crash report dialog comes up. I finally installed a straight Kubuntu the bug packages. I had two virtual terminals open and the "screen edges" window open when it crashed. GIPM produces this sort of behavior most reliably.

- Custom settings of the application:

I have the following desktop effects enabled:

shadow
login
taskbar thumbnails
logout translucency
highlight window
dialog
desktop grid

Bugs or not, this is such a beautiful system! I LOVE IT!

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

In that case, how do I get 4.5.4?
