Application: plasma-desktop (0.3) KDE Platform Version: 4.5.4 (KDE 4.5.4) (Compiled from sources) Qt Version: 4.7.1 Operating System: Linux 2.6.36-gentoo-r5 x86_64 Distribution (Platform): Gentoo Packages -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: Added an external monitor, activated it in systemsettings, setting to be left of my laptop panel. This crash happened only twice since I installed kde-4.5.2. Normally everything is well, so I wouldn't report it if it weren't for the segfault. KDE has been compiled with gcc-4.5.1, maybe this is a (possible) reason. The crash can be reproduced some of the time. -- Backtrace: Application: Plasma-Arbeitsfläche (kdeinit4), signal: Segmentation fault [KCrash Handler] #6 0x00007f11f78d13a0 in QWidget::mapToParent(QPoint const&) const () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so.4 #7 0x00007f11f78d13eb in QWidget::mapTo(QWidget*, QPoint const&) const () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so.4 #8 0x00007f11dbb6f357 in SystemTray::X11EmbedPainter::performUpdates() () from /usr/lib64/kde4/plasma_applet_systemtray.so #9 0x00007f11dbb6f728 in SystemTray::X11EmbedPainter::qt_metacall(QMetaObject::Call, int, void**) () from /usr/lib64/kde4/plasma_applet_systemtray.so #10 0x00007f11f86dc297 in QMetaObject::activate(QObject*, QMetaObject const*, int, void**) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #11 0x00007f11f86dbac9 in QObject::event(QEvent*) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #12 0x00007f11f7890544 in QApplicationPrivate::notify_helper(QObject*, QEvent*) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so.4 #13 0x00007f11f789500a in QApplication::notify(QObject*, QEvent*) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so.4 #14 0x00007f11f9416156 in KApplication::notify(QObject*, QEvent*) () from /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.5 #15 0x00007f11f86c7c2b in QCoreApplication::notifyInternal(QObject*, QEvent*) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #16 0x00007f11f86f53ee in QTimerInfoList::activateTimers() () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #17 0x00007f11f86f2454 in timerSourceDispatch(_GSource*, int (*)(void*), void*) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #18 0x00007f11f4213a12 in g_main_context_dispatch () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #19 0x00007f11f42141f0 in g_main_context_iterate.clone.5 () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #20 0x00007f11f421448d in g_main_context_iteration () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #21 0x00007f11f86f2b3f in QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #22 0x00007f11f793518e in QGuiEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtGui.so.4 #23 0x00007f11f86c6fd2 in QEventLoop::processEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #24 0x00007f11f86c7214 in QEventLoop::exec(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #25 0x00007f11f86cb69b in QCoreApplication::exec() () from /usr/lib64/qt4/libQtCore.so.4 #26 0x00007f11ea66dda8 in kdemain () from /usr/lib64/libkdeinit4_plasma-desktop.so #27 0x0000000000406c09 in launch(int, char const*, char const*, char const*, int, char const*, bool, char const*, bool, char const*) () #28 0x00000000004079e6 in handle_launcher_request () #29 0x0000000000407e95 in handle_requests(int) () #30 0x0000000000408aa7 in main () Possible duplicates by query: bug 257052, bug 256388, bug 256087, bug 255954, bug 252823. Created attachment 55647 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi plasma-desktop (0.3) on KDE Platform 4.5.4 (KDE 4.5.4) using Qt 4.7.1 - What I was doing when the application crashed: right-click on krandrtray, set resolution of DVI-0 to 1600x1200 (when DVI-0 is not active) - Custom settings of the application: my xorg.conf defines VGA-0 as right-of DVI-0, and defines DVI-0 as Primary. When KDM starts up, LVDS and VGA-0 are active. When I log in, VGA-0 is the only monitor that's active , and it is therefore primary (thank you Kephal!) I don't know why DVI-0 isn't active. When I last shut down, DVI-0 and VGA-0 were active. So when I enable DVI-0, it is dealing with all of the following (contributing to the crash, I expect): - VGA-0 which is active has a "right-of" setting related to an inactive display (which means it doesn't really know right away what the offset for VGA-0 should be - DVI-0 is Primary, so Kephal is moving the primary display artifacts (panels) to DVI-0 at the same time -- Backtrace (Reduced): #6 QWidget::mapToParent (this=0x0, pos=...) at kernel/qwidget.cpp:4159 #7 0x0000003792bf894b in QWidget::mapTo (this=<value optimized out>, parent=0x2b5ecf0, pos=<value optimized out>) at kernel/qwidget.cpp:4115 #8 0x00007f6ee9b2d479 in SystemTray::X11EmbedPainter::performUpdates (this=0x2b39070) at /usr/src/debug/kdebase-workspace-4.5.4/plasma/generic/applets/systemtray/protocols/fdo/x11embedpainter.cpp:134 #9 0x00007f6ee9b2d858 in SystemTray::X11EmbedPainter::qt_metacall (this=0x2b39070, _c=QMetaObject::InvokeMetaMethod, _id=<value optimized out>, _a=0x7ffff8370e10) at /usr/src/debug/kdebase-workspace-4.5.4/x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu/plasma/generic/applets/systemtray/x11embedpainter.moc:75 [...] #11 0x000000379136f879 in QObject::event (this=0x2fa31f8, e=<value optimized out>) at kernel/qobject.cpp:1175
