Version: 4.4 (using KDE 4.4.4) OS: MS Windows Attempting to perman on Windows results in this error message: "ently delete a file in DolphinThe process for the trash protocol died unexpectedly." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Highlight one or more files in dolphin, press shift delete. Observe message. Actual Results: Error message, item not deleted. Expected Results: Item is permanently deleted.
UPDATE: permanent deleting is possible though dolphin says that it has failed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. The above problem remains - "The process for the trash protocol died unexpectedly" - when moving items to trash.
Just confirming the above comment, when deleting a file with shift+delete, the status bar says "Could not delete <filename with complete path>", but it actually deletes the file (though you have to manually refresh the folder to see the changes). As for moving to trash, it just refreshes file-list for me, without any changes or error, and the file is not moved to trashed. I am using KDE 4.7.0 on Windows XP SP 3.
