Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux Hi, kopete always activates my webcam. Kopete should provide a menu option to disable video. Reproducible: Always
The problem you describe here is tracked as bug 170775. A menu option for disabling video support doesn't make sense - just don't use it. There is also a possibility to compile Kopete without the video part.
Hello Frank, thanks for your response. I use the precompiled packages of my distribution. My webcam is activated directly after start of kopete. From usability view it might be good: - This consumes power - This might unsettle users (big brother is watching you :-)) - There is no possibility hide from other users that my system is currently owning a webcam Regards Marc On Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 03:52:21PM +0200, Frank Schaefer wrote: > Date: Mon, 27 Sep 2010 15:52:21 +0200 (CEST) > From: Frank Schaefer <fschaefer.oss@googlemail.com> > Subject: [Bug 252511] Wish: Configuration option to disable video > To: ms-kdebugs@256bit.org > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252511 > > > Frank Schaefer <fschaefer.oss@googlemail.com> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED > CC| |fschaefer.oss@googlemail.co > | |m > Resolution| |WONTFIX > > > > > --- Comment #1 from Frank Schaefer <fschaefer oss googlemail com> 2010-09-27 15:52:21 --- > The problem you describe here is tracked as bug 170775. > A menu option for disabling video support doesn't make sense - just don't use > it. > There is also a possibility to compile Kopete without the video part. > > -- > Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug.
Hi Marc, sorry for the delayed reply. (In reply to comment #2) > ... > My webcam is activated directly after start of kopete. > > From usability view it might be good: > - This consumes power > - This might unsettle users (big brother is watching you :-)) Again, this is a known bug and should be fixed. > - There is no possibility hide from other users that my system is > currently owning a webcam That's a different issue. I think it would makes sense, especially for devices with hardwired webcams (e.g notebooks). Feel free to open a new wish report with a more specific description (sth. like "Add possibility to hide webcam").
