Hi,

kopete always activates my webcam. Kopete should provide a menu option to disable
video.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Frank Schaefer 2010-09-27 15:52:21 UTC
The problem you describe here is tracked as bug 170775.
A menu option for disabling video support doesn't make sense - just don't use it.
There is also a possibility to compile Kopete without the video part.
Comment 2 Marc Schoechlin 2010-09-27 16:19:29 UTC
Hello Frank,

thanks for your response.

I use the precompiled packages of my distribution.
My webcam is activated directly after start of kopete.

From usability view it might be good:
- This consumes power
- This might unsettle users (big brother is watching you :-))
- There is no possibility hide from other users that my system is
  currently owning a webcam

Regards
Marc

Hi Marc, sorry for the delayed reply.

Again, this is a known bug and should be fixed.

That's a different issue.
I think it would makes sense, especially for devices with hardwired webcams (e.g notebooks).
Feel free to open a new wish report with a more specific description (sth. like "Add possibility to hide webcam").
