Description gay 2010-09-19 20:35:19 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

If you create a new desktop item with 'create new'-> link to application,
then existing icons (in folder view) re re-sorted alphabetically, even if
'lock in place' is selected. The same happens if you edit an existing
item by right-clicking the icon and choosing 'properties'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Set desktop to folder view. Remove 'lock in place' if set. Drag some icons
to random points on screen. Turn 'lock in place' and 'align to grid' ON. Create a new desktop item with 'Create New'->'Link to Application'.
The icons will now rearrange to alphabetic sorting at the left of the screen.

Actual Results:
Icons rearranged.

Expected Results:
When 'lock in place' is selected, icons should NEVER rearrange themselves.

Same here. Same effect, if you place a folder on the desktop and move a file into this folder. After doing this, the view is reseted.

Duplicate of Bug 242073?
Comment 3 Markus Grob 2010-11-12 12:16:33 UTC
Works for me in KDE 4.5.3, but if I arrange the icons and start new, the icons are again at the left side.

-> New icons and folderproblems are gone, but the problem with saving the icons on the screen aren't gone.
