The moment when choosing the address book entry from the suggestion pop-up.

Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

When entering the name of a contact in the address book (e.g. "John Doe") into the "TO:" field of the composer I get suggestions from the auto completion function after a few letters (e.g. "John D").

When choosing one, the "TO:"-field stays how it was plus the cursor sign (=> "John D|").
Same happens to the following address fields (also "CC:" or "BCC:").

Additionally, I observed the following:

1) When hovering over the next (empty) address field, the border gets blueish. On the "frozen" field (with "John D|" in it), only the very right border (where the "delete"-symbol is) gets blue. The greater part of the field stays unchanged.

2) When actually sending the E-mail, the address is complete and corresponds to the one chosen at the first place.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Create new mail
2) Start typing name of someone in your address book
3) When auto completion suggests a name, choose it.

Actual Results:
1) The address field now contains the name up to the point when the auto completion suggestion was chosen + the cursor sign (not blinking).
2) The actual cursor correctly sits in the next address field, blinking, waiting for input.

Expected Results:
1) The address field should show the complete entry from the address book (Name + Address) as chosen from the auto completion pop-up. Nothing more.
2) As above (cursor in next field).

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-24-generic
Compiler: cc

Kubuntu 10.04 with ppa repositories for KDE 4.5.00
Ati Radeon graphics card (proprietary drivers)
Does happen with compiz and kwin.

I can confirm the problem here on KDE 4.5.1 however it extends also to address book selections in the kaddressbook window:

Cannot view the recipient in the 'To' field if it was added through either the drop down list of the address book or by a search/selection in the separate addressbook window.

I think this might be a refresh issue since Kmail sends the email to the correct address, however it is not visible in the 'To' field

My versions: Kde 4.5.1 stable, Kmail 1.13.5 and qt 4.6.3.

Another user with an identical configuration but Kdepim 4.4.6 has reported that Kmail now displays correctly when selecting a contact in the dropdown list. Selecting a contact in the separate kaddressbook window still results in a completely empty 'To' field in Kmail.

Can confirm the exactly same behavior.

The Email is sent to the full adresses but it is not displayed in the to-field and the other fields. The field ist inaccessible. Same problem on hitting enter as on clicking with the mouse after getting suggestions from the adressbook.

Bug 244880 seems the same phaenomenon

Kubuntu 10.10 with KDE 4.5.1, KMAIL 1.3.5

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
