Description Sabine Faure 2010-07-16 18:40:13 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

The autocompletion does not work anymore after typing the beginning of an email address in a 'To' line edit.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch Kontact and go to Kmail
- Click on 'New message'
- Start typing a few letters of the recipient email in the 'To' line edit
- The autocompletion gives a proposition or several
- Select one by clicking on it with the mouse pointer

Actual Results:
The list of possible autocompletions disappears but nothing has been added to what you typed in the 'To' line edit.

Expected Results:
The autocompletion should have completed the email address you started to type correctly according to your selection.

This is a regression since it worked fine yesterday when I last tested it.

Moreover, it is impossible for the user to complete the address manually (the cursor is there but not moving anymore) or to delete it (the mouse pointer has the wrong shape to click on the button: an 'I' instead of an arrow) after the autocompletion has failed.

The only way for the user to enter the email address is to close this composer, open a new one and enter the address manually without the autocompletion.

Sorry I meant tested with Trunk Svn Rev 1150720

I think Casey fixed this---it was broken for me too, and now works again. Please reopen if it's still buggy!
Comment 3 Sabine Faure 2010-07-23 18:00:03 UTC
Indeed, it is corrected now.

The autocompletion works fine now.

I am reopening this bug since it happened again today while I was testing.

The autocompletion did not work again and once it failed I could not edit the incomplete email address nor delete it since the cross at the end of the line was not there anymore.

With KMail 2.0.89, KDE 4.5.85 (4.6 Beta2), the problem is still there exactly as described.

Hello

I tried to reproduce the bug but i could not. Please can you try to reproduce it? My OS is opensuse and my kde environment is the following:

kde-devel@linux-mzuw:~/kde/build/kdepim> kmail -v
Qt: 4.7.1
KDE Development Platform: 4.5.90 (4.6 RC1)
KMail: 2.0.89
Comment 7 Kumaran Santhanam 2011-01-26 06:23:54 UTC
This bug occurs for me on KDE 4.6 RC2. As a related issue, the recent addresses don't show the full name of the recipient, but just the email address. KMail 1 shows the name and email address.

Can confirm this bug, I first used KDE 4.6 RC2 and updated to the 4.6 release, both under Kubuntu Maverik. All my contacts are located in one source of type "single vcf files". kmail -v says:
Qt: 4.7.0
KDE: 4.6.00 (4.6.0)
KMail: 2.0.89
Comment 9 Tobias Koenig 2011-06-04 12:11:17 UTC
Hej,

works fine here with latest master branch.
Selecting a entry my mouse click from the auto-completion popup menu is filled into the To field correctly.

Ciao,
Tobias

Regression re-appeared in Opensuse 12.1 using KDE Development Platform 4.8.1 (4.8.1) "release 483"
