Description Tadeusz Andrzej Kadłubowski 2010-07-26 11:38:23 UTC
Version: 2.3.1 (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

When a song ends Amarok doesn't automatically advances to the next song on the playlist.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a playlist with more than one song.
- Hit "play" button and enjoy.

Actual Results:
The first song plays correctly in full. Then amarok pauses. I need to press "play" button again to play the second track.

Expected Results:
I expect the first song to play in full. Then the second, then the third...

I have tested it with local files and streaming from the magnatune.com service.

It might(?) be simply a severe usability problem.

Which Phonon backend do you use? This is most likely related to the sound system. See also bug 227303 for the xine backend, bug 238791 for the vlc backend.

BTW, the bug 227303 (which you suggested as possible duplicate) doesn't seem to be relevant at all. Please re-check bug number.

I use the Xine backend.

I've switched to GStreamer for a moment (it didn't work at all?) and then back to Xine. After I've restarted Amarok, it worked just fine. The playlist progressed from track to track as expected.. I've restarted it one more time, just to be sure. It worked just fine again.

So this bug isn't as nicely reproducible as I thought. I'll inform you if I catch any other (ir)regularities.

yes, a typo, sorry, it's bug 227307. It only happens once an error was detected in the playlist, usually a restart of Amarok helps in that case, as the backend is reloaded on Amarok start only.
