I had no network connection when I started KMail, and akonadi crashes immediately each time.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Seems like it's not the same bug as 209263, as my version of KDE SC is 4.4.4 (and not 4.3) and the bug was said resolved before 4.4.4 was out.

Or did I miss some required upgrade ?

The bug is fixed in KDE SC 4.5.0 and was fixed after KDE SC 4.4.5 was tagged, so it was not backported to KDE SC 4.4 branch (there will be no KDE SC 4.4.6).
