Created attachment 47537 [details] Akonadi Error Version: 4.4.2 (using KDE 4.4.2) OS: Linux I can receive mail just fine with kontact. However, when I try to send mail it completely freezes. I have tried sending mail with kmail, but kmail hangs until I get an Akonadi error message and then it exits or crashes without a crash message. Akonadi is really becoming a bane to using Kmail. It has now made it unusable for me. I will attach the error message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Start Kontact. Compose a new message. Actual Results: Freezes within seconds. Expected Results: I should be able to compose and send email.
After a little fiddling around, and reversing a step, I found this was due to Akonadi. I have a bug filed since 4.4.0 over here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227698
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 227698 ***
I have been able to replicate this issue reliable. Kontact and Kmail ALWAYS freeze when I reply to emails that are HTML. I am going to update the title to indicate "when replying to HTML emails".
This should be fixed now, or did I miss something? At least I can't replicate it using kmail2 (4.8).
I am still using Kubuntu 10.04 which has the mentioned version of kontact/kmail in it. When I have the opportunity to try this under a higher version (likely 12.04), I can open a bug again if there is still an issue. Does that work for you?
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
