Looks related to your graphics drivers
Yeah, the crash is in the fglrx driver code. We've seen this crash in a bunch of different apps, not even KDE ones, over at Ubuntu.

Created attachment 43735 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi Installed fglrx but not yet run aticonfig --initial Wil try again after trying that
I resolved the problem by opening a terminal and running sudo aticonfig --initial This is in fact required according to amd, but of course if people do not see the release notes since they install from the ubuntu repository they do not know. So this is a documentation error in a way, I am not a sufficient enough expert to know if the .deb package can be created in such a way that it runs this automatically on restart.

Created attachment 47649 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi I am using a Acer Aspire 3820TG with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. Because after each try to open "Systemeinstellungen" -> "Oberfläche" I get a crash. If I run "aticonfig --initial" and restart my laptop KDE won't start up. After that I had to delete xorg.config and restart ubuntu to get my laptop running again.

Created attachment 49739 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi I have an HP 6735b, and had a lot of problems with kubuntu 10.04, after a fresh install, I was never able to login, so I installed fglrx from terminal, updated the system and removed broken packages, it still didn't work, so I installed Karmic and upgraded from there; but it still didn't work, so I did the same procedure as I did before, and finally made it work, but I inmediately noticed a low performance, especially whith apps that in some way or another use my GPU, I have an ATI HD 3200, I can access System Settings, but it always crashes when accessing Desktop settings. After all this I guess its an issue with my GPU, ATI specifically, I don't know why it works so well with Gnome, and KDE in previous Kubuntu releases, so I guess Kubuntu Lucid 10.04, its configuration and supported drivers are making conflict with my GPU. I'm a newbie and I don't know how to make reports correctly, but I hope this could be of some value.

> Still crashes after running "sudo aticonfig --initial" Did you restart X? (save all your data, press ctrl+alt+f1, login, "sudo telinit 3; sudo telinit 5" - in doubt: just reboot instead) Also you might want to try the radeon driver xorg-ati if it supports your GPU. Not sure whether fglrx is actually maintained at all :-(
