Description Arne Babenhauserheide 2010-04-07 08:31:19 UTC
Version: 2.3.0 (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-gentoo-r6

Hi,

Amarok regularly loses the audio davice when switching from one song to the next and then displays “audio device … unavailable”.

The only way to get audio again is to close amarok (quit) and start it again.

I had it fixed for a few days (sadly I don’t know how), but the problem reappeared.

Could be a duplicate of a similar error for 1.4: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209666

Note: I use a USB pereamp, but it works flawlessly with mplayer.

I see that too, but i'm unsure who to blame for it.
Amarok? Phonon? Xine/Gsteamer? A 3rd party app? The distro for a bad config?

Hmmm.... anyone?

I don’t know. Which distro do you use.

My guess is that it is an interction of my USB preamp (MobilePre USB) and Phonon.

Strange is that restarting Amarok fixes it, so maybe it’s the way Amarok accesses Phonon.

Is this bug still valid? It is a Phonon bug, BTW, not Amarok. Which Phonon backend do you use?

I “fixed” it by switching to pulseaudio. Sine then I didn’t lose the device anymore.

Thanks for asking!

Thank you for the feedback. Closing as the workaround is OK for you.
