The lack of an entry may cause someone to assume that their network adapter has not been detected. Also, doing so would allow you to see what default settings it had been configured with and to change them easily through the GUI.

Probably your wired connection is a system connection. NetworkManager usually
creates a system wired connection, but since we have not commited the system
connection implementation you need to wait a bit more until we do it or you can
test it yourself: http://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/100947/
