Description Tassilo Horn 2010-03-29 20:34:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

I have a pretty standard desktop layout. There's a horizontal panel on the bottom of the screen, which contains a task manager applet.

When I minimize a window using the minimize button in the window decoration, or by using a keyboard shortcut, the magic lamp animation makes the window disappear at the position of the minimize button, not at the position of the window's task manager entry.

When I minimize the window by clicking the task manager entry, it always animates correctly.

To "enable this bug for a window", all I have to do is maximizing it once. From that time on, it'll minimize to its minimize button. So here's a recipe, which reproduces the bug for me:

1. Start a konsole (or any other application which doesn't start maximized)
2. Minimize it with a shortcut or the minimize button. This should work.
3. Maximize the window using the maximize button.
4. Minimize it using the minimize button or a shortcut. Now the animation goes into the wrong direction.

I don't use a vertical panel, so this bug is no duplicate of #179275, but it may be related.

I regularly use two monitors, but the bug also occurs when only one output is connected. I'm not sure if I had this problem in KDE 4.4.0, because I started using KDE just a few days before 4.4.1 was released.

do you
a) use the default plasma taskbar?
b) show non minimized windows in the taskbar? (i.e. _not_ "only show minimized...")

(the window btw. probably goes to the pointer, not the min button)

Setting as a duplicate of #222420 as it is basically the same issue: Plasma announces an incorrect icon geometry for that window and by that magic lamp minimizes to the default position which is the cursor position.

Indeed.

Oh, sorry for opening this bug. Indeed, bug 222420 deals with the same issue. But that bug is not in the result list when searching for "magic lamp"...
