Description Oliver Henshaw 2010-02-11 15:00:50 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.5)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Please consider adding the ability to print the currently selected text (and/or the currently selected area). This ability could be exposed in the print dialog and in the context menu that appears when selecting an area (or selecting text and right-clicking).

Kwrite already allows me to print selected text (option is in the print dialog) so hopefully this is something that the print system already has support for, and okular just needs some hooking up.

Here's me hoping.

I'd love to have this option, too.

Currently, printing only a selected area is very complicated for unexperienced users as it requires either saving the selection to a file first from which it can be printed or using copy and paste into a another application to print from.

I think making a difference between selected text/image when printing doesn't really make sense, so this should be added in the context menu just as a single point above the Text/Image section as "Print selected area".

I do understand there is a lot of things to work on in okular and only limited time. However I do cast my vote for this request. It would save a lot of time as I regularly get large pdfs that are too dense to print on a standard A4 printer.
