Description brice rebsamen 2010-01-19 13:51:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

There are 2 options that I miss really much from Amarok 1.4, to create random playlists:
- Add 50 random tracks from the collection to the playlist
- Play a random album.

Would it be possible to restore them in Amarok 2?

Well, I don't know which version you use since you fail to tell us, but this all works in Amarok 2.2.2
Mind you, you can't combine those, even if it seemed so in Amarok 1.4 this never worked in combination.

Would you mind telling me how to add 50 random tracks to the playlist in Amarok 2.2.2? I think I've explored all the options and I still cannot do it. I really miss that feature, I used it to create random playlists to fill in my ipod shuffle.

About playing a random album, I wasn't talking about doing it in combination with the random tracks. In Amarok 1.4 there was an option to pick a random album from the collection and play it (i.e. replace the current playlist). This does not seem to be possible with Amarok 2.2.2. Or at least, it's not as obvious as in 1.4 how to do it.

Thanks

You can use the Dynamic Playlist to add up to 99 tracks. The default setting is Random, but you can even add Proportional, Custom or Fuzzy Bias to tweak the settings.
As for playing a Random Album, this is indeed only possible by dragging the complete collection and set the playlist mode to Random Album. I set this to duplicate of an existing Wish for a Random Albums option.
