Description Martin L ü c h e m 2009-12-31 00:55:27 UTC
Version: 1.0 (using 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.30-2-amd64

System Settig tells me that this menue is designed to have one desktop on several monitors but it seems that "this configuration" is not relevant on my system. Well I am running a 15'' monitor with an external 22'' Monitor attached via docking station.

By the way: The configuration of size and orientation of my monitors do not work either.

Do you use the NVIDIA binary driver? This one does not support xrandr.
Comment 2 Martin L ü c h e m 2009-12-31 14:27:34 UTC
To be honest: I don not know! How can I find out this? What I do know is: This is a FSC Lifebook with GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller

Sounds like intel, which should support RandR extension (check with "xrandr --version")

Please run "xrandr" command (both with and without external monitor connected) from Konsole and attach the output.

Comment 6 Martin L ü c h e m 2009-12-31 16:05:47 UTC
In case of 1. the internal screen shows only part of a 1680 x 1050 workspace.

If after 2. I reconnect the notebook to the docking station nothing changes. That is, the external screen stays black (no signal)

The situation is critical because sometimes when switching users the screens stay black (internal and external) and I cannot access anything because the new key to restart the X server is unusable on my notebook. (I wonder where my bug report about this situation is gone!)

Thank you a lot for your help! Martin

Regards, Martin

Any action on this bug? There are problems that seem to be correlated to this one. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223755

Thanks for reporting your bug.

Since reporting Krandr has since been replaced by KScreen. It is available in the Plasma 4 series, and is default in Plasma 5 onwards.

I hope this solves your issue. If you still have a problem after upgrading please reopen a new bug under kscreen.

Thanks
