Version: 1.0 (using 4.3.77 (KDE 4.3.77 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091123)), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop In Appearance/Style, there is an option to fine-tune graphical effects. The options presented here, however, are confusing, e.g. it is unclear what effect may need a "high display resolution". It should be replaced by something that was in KDE3: A slider to enable more effects, with the option to configure effects separately. Also, I was not able to disable all animations, e.g. new ones on the taskbar using this option.

+1 from me. arcane options like the ones in the dropdown desperately need humand understandable explanations. and, probably like the op, i hat most of those "effects" and prefer to simply disable them -- which _i_ thought, Desktop->Desktop Effects was supposed to do. so, here's another question: how are these two related and why aren't they put together in a "get rid of resource hogging eye candy" section or so?

yeah, a check-box to Enable/Disable effects is preferred..

will a tiny checkbox make it for 4.11?
I was about to file a bug before finding this, is an enable/disable in the works?
