Description Matthew Klassen 2009-10-27 04:23:29 UTC
Version: Version 4.3.2 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

The Akonadi Google Calendar plugin deletes all entries of my Google Calendar when I removed it as a Resource from Kontact.

Walk through:
1. Added a google akonadi resource to my korganizer.
2. Configured it to my google account
3. (Did not see any of my google events)
4. Created a second google akonadi resource as a source in korganizer
5. Could see the new entries of this resource
6. Deleted first korganizer google akonadi resource (Right clicked item and selected remove)
7. My Google Calendar was wiped clean with no entries.
8. 2nd google akonadi resource still had the items. Modifying each item adds it back to my google calendar.

Scary...

Confirmed on 4.4.1

I just lost my Google Calendar as well... I am using KDE 4.4.5
The process is as follows:
 - I have multiple calendars in Google
 - I added one Google resource in Akonaadi
 - added a second resource (hoping that it might pick up another calendaar in Google
 - deleted the second resource (when I found out it didn't link to any Gcal)
 - quit Kontact (and Calendar)
 - opened my browser later to view my Gcalendars and my primary calendar data was gone (the calendar still exists on Google, but there is no data)

I hope this serious bug can be fixed (or disabled) soon... don't want anyone else to go through what I just did!!

I should maybe note also, that when I deleted the second Akonadi resource for GCal, an error dialog popped up saying something like it couldn't be deleted... yet the name in the list was removed. I later tried to create another resource for GCal and Akonadi used a # following the one that I (had or had not) deleted. (Another bug or related to this??)

Is this bug still relevant? Or can I savely load a shared Google Calendar in my Kontact meanwhile? Thanks

I would also like to know if it is safe to use the Google Calendar feature -- as I was one who lost all my main Google calendar data and am not willing to try again until I know that this bug has been fixed.

Not Fixed. KDE 4.5.4 Kubuntu 10.10 x64

Just lost my damn calendar!
Comment 7 Tim 2010-12-06 09:30:34 UTC
darthanubis: I never found a way to recover my calendar and I had years of valuable history on the main calendar that I lost. Maybe you can find a way to recover your lost data... It's amazing that the developer of this extension doesn't simply limit the user to only one calendar... it would be easy to do I would think... I've given up hoping for a fix and switched to Thunderbird and it's Google calendar addon... never had big problem with it.

Greetings.
I'm using KDE 4.6.2 with Akonadi 1.5.1 and akonadi-googledata-1.2.0 under FreeBSD 8.2 amd64

Unable to reproduce this bug anymore after updating akonadi-googledata to 1.2.0. Deleting contact or calendar resource from akonadi doesn't wipe all data from my google account. Can anybody else confirm it?

Unable to reproduce with KDE 4.7.1. Assume it can be closed.
