Version: 1.3 (using KDE 4.3.1) Compiler: gcc version 4.3.3 (Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Using dolphin, when I go to Network -> Samba share -> my-pc , it is sometimes asked for authentication and sometimes not. When authentication is required, no username and password is accepted. In contrast, using nautilus, no authentication is requested.
Similiar problem here: I can't browse my Samba shares, I'm ALWAYS asked for username and passwort. I click on Network, Samba Shares, Workgroup name, then the authentication window pops up - before I even tried to connect to a share. In Konqueror it works as it should. Dolphin is 4.3.2 from Debian testing.
same with konqi when trying enter the network, this is connected to the switch to tdbsam in samba 3.4.3
under kde 4.3.4
I'm using gentoo, latest update of sabma libs, client and server has fixed it. making this a samba issue rather then kde issue
(In reply to comment #4) > I'm using gentoo, latest update of sabma libs, client and server has fixed it. > making this a samba issue rather then kde issue Confirmed. On my Debian box an upgrade on the client from samba 3.2.5 (stable) to 3.4.5 (testing) fixed this issue. Samba version seems to be irrelevant. Btw: Samba 3.2.5 caused the same problem on KDE 3.5.
This bug still exists in KDE 4.4.1. Dolphin refuses to authenticate smb shares.
On KDE 4.4.1 with Samba 3.4.2 I have no problems. But after an update to 3.4.3, I have the same problems.
Have samba 3.5.2 have the same problem. Additionaly Smb4k gives me no problems when trying to mount a network drive. Command line works perfectly: code: smbclient --user=GUEST //8xp/backup Above code works every time. I realy think this is a KDE problem.
I'm having this problem with KDE 4.8.3., samba version on the client is 3.6.5 and on the server 3.5.10, Dolphin 2.0. Dolphin has asked whether I want to store the samba authentication credentials in the wallet, i've clicked "allow always". Still, randomily it forgets the credentials and asks me to fill in username and password anyway. I am testing the behaviour also on Nautilus, and it has no problems: nautilus just asks for the wallet password and then opens the samba share.
I've previously not had any problems with samba authentication, but recently dolphin started requesting a username and password even though I've successfully logged in and ticked 'remember password' (if kwallet is not enabled, I don't get prompted to remember). kwallet still successfully manages my wifi passwords. Having looked at the bug reports, this was a long-standing issue but was fixed, leading me to wonder if it's been broken again recently. I get the same problem with network shares served by Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I've tried creating a new user, but the problem persists for that user also. I've tried deleting and re-creating kwallet configs. Starting dolphin from the command line gives the following; QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: Permission denied QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /var/lib/samba/usershares Dolphin 2.0, KDE 4.8.4, Samba 2:3.6.6.6
