Description Ruchir Brahmbhatt 2009-09-12 08:43:13 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I've started using new network manager and it seems good but there's one serious issue. It always gets IP from DHCP. If I have to assign static IP, I have to add relevant wired connection in config applet. Then also I have to switch to newly created connection in order to use the specific settings. There is no way to make it default.

Have you set "connect automatically" for the manual IP address wired connection?
Comment 2 Ruchir Brahmbhatt 2009-09-14 15:45:32 UTC
Yes I have set it but it connects "System" connection only every time I login.

I can reproduce this. The problem is that NM always prefers the DHCP System connection ('Auto eth0' or similar) over the user connection with manual IP settings. So this makes this bug a sideeffect of #204340 - since with the ability to edit/delete system connections in KNM, you could workaround NM's rigid behaviour.
