Version: 1.3 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 163", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-rc9-37-desktop When an image is selected, Dolphin shows its thumbnail, file-size and type on the right side column. It would be nice to also have the dimensions of the image.
Thanks for the report. Dolphin supports this kind of information, but currently only if Nepomuk and Strigi are enabled... I'm thinking about a fallback solution if those systems are not enabled, but it is not that straight forward, as the reading of the meta data may not block Dolphin.
Related to bug 194785, bug 193592. The latter report looks like a duplicate, but the reporter of that one says that even Strigi and Nepomuk don't help.
I don't know about Strigi, but Nepomuk doesn't seem to bring this feature up.
@Alvaro: you need to enable Nepomuk and Strigi, enabling Nepomuk is not enough. Also it requires some initial time (~ 1 hour, depending on your hard disk size) until the indexing by Strigi is done.
Thanks for the tip Peter, but for the time being I'm not planning to have Strigi enabled or any oder indexing service since I don't use them .
Seconded and voted max. Indexing services are intrusive and not needed in this case. Generating previews and thumbnails involves reading the dimension information from the image file anyway, so why not just expose this info? Why force intrusive indexing services on users?
I also believe this is a duplicate of Bug 193592.
OK, moving my votes.
