Description Tanja Schulte 2009-05-31 20:05:54 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.85)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

With dolphin I don't get any information about my photos like aperture, exposure, ISO and so on. Even the basic information about the dimensions of the picture is missing which is very important for me, not only concerning photos but all pictures. This information should be available both in the tooltip and in the information sidebar.

Do you have strigi/nepomuk enabled?

Maybe this is a duplicate of Bug 193592?

No, I don't have strigi and/or nepomuk enabled. I tried and it nearly froze my system, dolphin took about 10 minutes (!) to start when nepomuk was doing something (and it really is of no use to always first get angry and then kill nepomuk so it never gets its job done but I mine).

The picture information is highly important and therefore should be available without nepomuk.

Please provide an alternative for nepomuk/strigi to display the exif information of pictures and their dimensions in dolphin sidebar and tooltip which reads the information on the fly when you access the picture.

I also believe this is a duplicate of Bug 193592. There are some comments in there indicating that the information doesn't show up when Strigi and Nepomuk are enabled, and also comments that Nepomuk and Strigi *shouldn't* have to be enabled for such functionality.
