Description Ryan David Hall 2009-09-05 02:29:12 UTC
Version: 0.3 (using KDE 4.2.4)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.4-1
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Trying to drag / re-position a running System Monitor widget from right side of digital clock widget to other (left) side, resulted in SIGSEGV-11 in plasma

Why can't I re-position my widgets to be anywhere I like within a panel? Why does KDE/plasma automatically place them and not allow me to re-order/rearrange them even I know the panel is not locked!

before this happened, plasma 0.3 was already taking up 50% of memory!! WTF?! I was trying to remove system monitor and then logout to rectify the memory usage but before I could logout and while dragging on System Monitor widget, plasma crashed. Now I have 2 instances of plasma still running while I submit this report.

This is my first ever bug report to the KDE organization. And I did not compile KDE 4 myself, I installed them via testing repositories into my brand new installation of Debian Lenny (which I dist-upgraded to Squeeze before installing KDE 4.2.4 deb's)

crash report follows:

Comment 1 Ryan David Hall 2009-09-05 02:34:18 UTC
Before I dist-upgraded Debian Lenny to Squeeze, I had ran "prelink -a" on my whole system (which included only KDE 3.5 at the time) - could this have caused a problem since I did not later run "prelink -a" after dist-upgrading to Squeeze/Testing? Or since I did not also run "prelink -a" after upgrading to KDE 4 via testing repo's? I was going to run "prelink -a" later, and then reboot the machine (since i did upgrade libc6 on an earlier apt-get upgrade) but it takes so damn long. Would prelink or not rebooting since libc6 upgrade, have anything to do with this?
Thanks... I am a newbie at filing bug reports but i want to help because I love KDE so much better than GNOME!
