after installing updates I get this error message:

The backend took too much time to process the synchronous request - you need to fork!

It said to make a bug report.

I can see that, too, on  a fresh Kubuntu 9.04 install on the i386 platform.
Initially that message came up just after starting the software updates part, after upgrading the RAM to 512MB it comes up after updating the list.
