Compiler:          GCC (Gentoo 4.3.3-r2 p1.2, pie-10.1.5) 4.3.3

Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

I upgraded to KDE 4.3.0 from 4.2.4 (on a Gentoo 64-bit system).  I have Desktop Effects enabled, but when KDE starts, compositing is always suspended and I have to go to System Settings and click the "Resume compositing" button (Alt+Shift+F12 never worked.)

I suspect that perhaps KWin's automatic disabling of compositing (when it's too slow for an amount of time) is responsible for this, but I can't be sure. Is there a way to disable this KWin feature to check whether this would work as a workaround for this bug?
