Version: unknown (using 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0), Debian packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.28 i am talking about system settings -> advanced -> desktop theme details - no preview for the changed setting. i changed panel background but it is impossible toe know, what the panel will look like (turns out, it wont change, whatever i use) - after "apply" a dialog appears with a rather confusing message (which can't be c&p'd, god knows why): "To change your theme to "(Customized)", open the desktop Appearance Settings and select "(Customized)" from the droplist." firstly: what is "the desktop Appearance Settings"? since i am in _system_ settings, i'd expect everything to be configured there -- after a long and exhaustive search it turns out, the desktop isn't configured here -- apparently not a part of the "system". what that dialog tries to say is: right click your desktop, from the context menu choose "Desktop Settings ..." and there a five (5) droplist, one of them will probably have the entry ... secondly: why those additional steps? why can't the theme be updated/changed at once? - changing the panel background has no effect, regardless of the selection in "the desktop Appearance Settings" or system settings. due to the issues described above i am not sure, if this a bug as such or only caused by the confusing workflow one has to learn to actually make changes to the theme take effect.
As stated in bug 198943 comment 4, there is now a way to set the Plasma theme from outside, so this request could be implemented (I guess) Thanks
