Description Gareth Doutch 2009-07-13 01:56:40 UTC
Version: 4.2.2 (using KDE 4.2.96)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Selecting Calendar in Kontact will immediately close Kontact.

Running korganizer from the command line results in the following output:

<unknown program name>(3984)/: Communication problem with "korganizer" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." "

If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? You need to install the "kdepim-dbg" package. Thanks

okay, now this is the last line of the bash output when I launched Kontact from bash and clicked on the Calendar tab.

kontact: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkorganizerprivate.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN12LibKHolidays9KHolidaysC1ERK7QString

What are the version of the packages: "kdelibs5-*", "kdepimlibs-*" and "kdepim-*" ?

You seem to have some version mismatch. (Also "Version: 4.2.2 (using KDE 4.2.96)")

Thanks

I don't know how to find that out, sorry.
Comment 5 Gareth Doutch 2009-07-13 23:56:09 UTC
Using KPackageKit:

kdelibs5, kdepimlibs:
4:4.2.96-0ubuntu2~jaunty1~ppa1(I386)

kdepim:
4:4.2.96-0ubuntu2~jaunty1~ppa1(all)
But it is grey in kpackagekit.
