Description David Rankin 2009-06-12 19:47:51 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #189583 +++

Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

In KDE4.3 Beta 2, there isn't a simple way to add an entire menu folder to the panel plasmoid from the KDE menu (kickoff or classic). In kde3 it was done by right-clicking panel, add application to panel, navigate list, click "Add this menu". That is not possible in kde4. This regression needs to be fixed.

This kills efficient access to needed apps. I have been through the new widget lists and tried all the related widgets and there is simply no workable replacement (Lancelot, etc...). I have 20+ apps that I need quick access to. Here is a screenshot of the menu I want to add to the panel (note: it has folders in it as well) (45k screenshot):

Let me know if you need me to send anything else. This bug was moved from the 'wishlist' because it is not a wish. It is a regression and loss of functionality that needs to be fixed in the 4.3 release. Thanks.

There is no reason to mark it as a crash. The Plasma developers are aware that some features from KDE 3 are not fully implemented, but adding invalid bug reports does not help.
