If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here?
You need to install the "kdesdk-dbg" package.
An explanation about what where you doing when it crashed would be useful too
Thanks

Hello,

@Sri: sorry I misread something. You need to file a NEW bug report about the crash you have just posted because it could be different to the one originally reported. Also, you need to install the debug symbols packages for "kdesdk" (or "kompare") (I don't know if Linux Mint provide this packages). Read the guide I mentioned on comment 1. Also, do not forget to add your KDE4 version in the new report. Thanks

PLease let me know how to make kompare running after the following error. No idea how to go about it. thanks

Application: Kompare (kompare), signal SIGSEGV

[KCrash Handler]
#5  0xb69a55b7 in KServiceType::serviceOffersOffset () from /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.5

Comment 8 Dario Andres 2009-08-09 17:20:38 UTC
@lache: your problem could be different and could be related to some packaging/installation error. Try to update your KDE packages, and the kdesdk ones. If after that you still keep experiencing that crash, read comment 1 and post the new crash information in a NEW bug report. Thanks
