Is Fedora 11 usng Qt4.5? If so this is a duplicate of an already reported bug and this will closed. If not please get us a useful backtrace because what you wrote in the first comment is useless to find out what the problem is.

Is this the same user error as in bug 124121? Kompare doesn't take directories, only files.
