Version: (using KDE 4.2.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Currently notes widget stores data (text) with widget configuration. In my opinion this is bad practice. I think it would be a perfect solution to make the storage of notes content configurable in the settings. I would love to store a simple text file/html file in my documents. This makes notes plasmoid usable with version control and backup strategy. Why? I shortly had the situation of my disk running full over night. Consequently I lost all configuration files (probably due to trying to write in them on full disk?). I tried to find the content of my desktop notes - they are stored in .kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc (according to http://forum.kde.org/where-does-the-notes-plasmoid-store-its-data-t-49957.html) They - of course were lost with the configuration...
+1 it's wrong to not have a way to easily save (or have saved) the text in the case of a corrupted plasma desktop, not an unknown occurrence when upgrading between releases feel the concept of having pretty much all plasma related config and data in one single point of failure is dangerous
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
