Description Olivier LAHAYE 2009-05-25 10:08:42 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

It would be realy cool to add applications to the "recently used" start menu when they are started using the "ATL-F2" shortcut or the "Run command..."

Currently, only applications started with the menu are managed within the "recently used" feature. Extending the "recently used" feature management to the "Run command..." would be realy cool (I'm almost all the time starting applications using quick start or ALT-F2. Right now, I'm forced to start all apps I use often 1st using menus so the get into the "recently used" area.

Best regards.

PS: this is a long wish I made for KDE3 kicker, but this is still valid for KDE4 plasma.
See my old wish in Jan-2005 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97416

Just looked at how this is implemented in Kickoff. The list of recent applications/documents is stored locally to kickoff. To implement this wish we would either need a tight coupling between Kickoff and the app krunner (not good), or separate the recent lists, by moving them to Nepomuk, for example.

And if they are stored in Nepomuk what happens if someone has disabled it in the System Settings?

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
