Description former user 2009-05-23 18:48:08 UTC
Version: 1.11.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Kmail has the option to assign folders to mailinglists (or vice versa).

The option to assign contacts/email-adresses to folders
would extend on it. (And complement the "copy sent to current folder" option of bug #193786).

The workflow when you want to write to A_contact might look like this:

1) You go into the folder where your filters move all the messages that go
"FROM: A_contact TO: your_account".
(You might be looking what was up last time.)

2) You press the "new" button to compose a message.

3) Kmail would automatically fill the To: field with the A_contact. This could be specified as a folder preference like the mailinglist feature.

4) The sent message gets automaticaly saved in the current folder. (This might be specified globaly or as folder preference? Wish #193786)

-> The folder will hold your full communication with A_contact nicely treaded.

Just realizing that browsing your folders and then pressing the "New Message" button could actually be a way to go through your contacts.

Maybe think of this further as an alternative interface to the address book, with some auto-folder and auto-filter fuctionality.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
