Description former user 2009-05-23 18:32:04 UTC
Version: 1.11.2 (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Kmail has the option to save replies to messages in the same folder, in order to keep email ordered nicely in conext.

The option to save a copy of (origianly) sent message in the current folder would complement it.

The workflow when you want to write to A_contact might look like this:

1) You go into the folder where your filters move all the messages that go "FROM: A_contact TO: your_account".
(You might be looking what was up last time.)

2) You press the "new" button to compose a message.

3) Kmail could automatically fill the To: field with the A_contact. Similar as with mailinglists, this could be specified as a folder preference.(complementing wish)

4) The sent message gets automaticaly saved in the current folder. (This might be specified globaly or as folder preference?)

-> The folder will hold your full communication with A_contact nicely treaded.

The complementig wish "option to assign contacts/email-adresses to folders" now has Bug #193788.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.

Actually, if there is only a single recipient, saving the email sent in the folder that has the receipient associated with it (Bug# 193788) would be even better. (less chance to save in an arbitrary selected folder)
