Version: (using KDE 4.2.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Most of the times, but not always, if i save an attachement, the file is indeed created, but with a length of 0. When i click on an attachement (typically a *.txt, image, or ooo file), the right application is opened, but with an empty file. It's very probably the same bug. Sometimes i can solve this by clicking on another message and then on the message i'm interested in. or using 'save all..' in the 'description' subwindow at bottom. Most of the time i end up starting another mail client :-(
To where location are you trying to save the attachments ? a local dir, home dir, a remote place? I wonder if bug 194019 could be related to this. Thanks
Hi Dario. I usually try to save to my home or a directory inside it. Nothing fancy. Permissions and such are not an issue here.
For me, the problem shows up when I click the attachment and try to save or open. But if I right-click and select 'save as', then the save works. I believe the problem is related to a bad temp file name. For example, I have a file named "C:\schematics\EVK1105\EVK1105_revB.pdf", and okular gave a messages saying "Cannot open /tmp/C:\schematics\EVK1105\EVK1105_revB.pdf" I think that modifying the filename into something valid may solve the problem.
no, my problem is different, as said in the subject : the file is actually saved, but its length is 0. The problem happens when i save the file, but also if, for exemple, I click on an image : there's an empty file in /tmp and 'xv' (my default client for images) gives an error about it. See : % ll /tmp/kde-orzel/DSCN1708.JPG_\[e15783].jpg -r-------- 1 orzel users 0 2009-06-17 11:47 /tmp/kde-orzel/DSCN1708.JPG_[e15783].jpg

I can confirm the same behavior and changing between messages may improve the situation. If you are working on an IMAP folder, maybe the problem is related to a general synchronization problem as observed in bug 203868. I don't remember seeing either this bug or bug 203868 in earlier versions of KMail/Kontact, so I might got introduced in KMails 1.11.x (KDE 4.2.x) cycle... BTW, I'm using Gentoo Linux with KDE 4.2.4 and KMail 1.11.4 (Kontact 1.4.4).
