Description Thomas Capricelli 2009-04-15 17:19:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

It currently happends with KDE 4.2.2, but it has been here for very long. Did not report previously as it seems such an obvious and big bug...

So, most of the times (but not always, i would say it bugs 90% of the time), when i RMB on an attachement in the message window, and ask to save it, the file is created, but totally empty:

-rw-r--r-- 1 orzel users 0 2009-04-15 17:11 MyAttachement

I've tried to understand the difference when it works and when it does nto work, but couldn't find any pattern.

To solve this, i go the attachement sub-window (very bottom) and use the rmb entry "save all attachements...". The it mostly works

Btw (I dont have time to report all kmail bugs), but the message window is completely white after this. Whether the attachement was saved or not, whether i use the first method or the second one... The window displaying the message is all blank. I need to click on another message in the message list, and then again on the original message to have the content displayed.
After thi

It works for me in kmail 1.11.90 (kde 4.2.90). Both, save attachment and save all attachments.
And then, the message window is still there.

Are you using IMAP or POP accounts ?
Does it still happen with 4.3.1 ?

i'm using imaps (secured) and yes it still happends with 4.3.1

It happens not very often, when clicking on an attached image for example (xv says "file of size 0" or when right-cliking and saving the file (file created with 0 length).

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
