Title: knotify crashes on login only What I was doing when the application crashed: Everytime I start KDE I am notified that knotified has crashed. I have recompiled from trunk a few times (clearing the previous build enviroment each time) and I have tried with a new home settings (moved .kde) Other that that notification which only shows when I log in, I have no noticable problems so I have delayed reporting it until now. -- Application and System information: Application that crashed: knotify4 Version of the application: 4.0 KDE Version: 4.2.71 (KDE 4.2.71 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090428)) Qt Version: 4.5.1 Operating System: Linux 2.6.29-1-amd64 x86_64 Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid) -- Backtrace: Application: KNotify (knotify4), signal: Aborted [Current thread is 0 (LWP 2430)] Thread 3 (Thread 0x7f201a475950 (LWP 2518)): #0 0x00007f2024953e8d in pthread_cond_timedwait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 #1 0x00007f201a48aca1 in ?? OK, using the auto-generate form does not seem to grab the version or target. I am using trunk - svn revision listed from kdebase is 962595. I am using Debian unstable with QT version 4.5.1 from the sid repos. libc6 is 2.9-9 xine is 1.1.16.3-1 Looking at the bug report again and it looks like most of this is in the krash report. Since the first couple lines mentioned libc6, xine, and QT, I provide the version numbers I am using (they are from Debian Sid as well.)
Actually, I think this is a sound card issue. I open kopete and every time a message came, I got the error. I do not use sounds for most things so I didn't connect that the error was due to the startup theme. I will close this since knotify is correct when telling me there is an error - I just wish the error would give a better description than aborted :)
Mh, Knotify(nor Phonon, the multimedia system) should not crash even when the soundcard has a problem I guess. I'm reopening and reassigning to Phonon

Created attachment 40966 [details] New crash information added by DrKonqi I've been reporting another bug, started Quassel (IRC client) and notifications popped up (because of nick registration and such), this apparently made KNotify/Phonon crash.

Set correct version. Is this still valid with KDE SC 4.4.2?
Closing for lack of feedback. Please only reopen this report if you can reproduce it with KDE SC 4.4.2/Phonon 4.4.0 or later.
Bug 243190 is from 4.5 RC 1. Not sure what Phonon version is used, though.

Bug 257061 is from 4.4.5. I suggest to reopen this?

[Comment from a bug triager] It could make sense to reopen this bug report. Additionally, bug 247461 describes a different issue with the same backtrace, so that case could also be added here.
