Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Unspecified Other Using the new menu in 4.2 I have checked "Switch tabs on hover" and while I can hover over, for example, the Applications tab and it opens, I have to click Games and then Card Games and finally Kpatience. I would of thought I could hover over all of them and only click Kpatience. Like the old style menu does. I unchecked it and it made no difference in how the hover/click works. ref: http://forum.kde.org/new-menu-and-mouse-clicks-t-46020.html I'm using sidux and updated using smxi and sid repository
yes, "switch tabs on hover" means exactly that. nothing to do with the application area.
Sitting here on the booth at linux tag and we have users here requesting exactly this feature: opening the menus in kickoff`s application tab automatically on hover. So it seems to be a valid wish or maybe even regression compared to the classical menu style. Changing status to new :)
Kubuntu insists on turning off the default setting "Switch tabs on hover" because of a perceived inconsistency with the Kickoff menu not switching Application categories on hover. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/433026 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/340220

Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding! Nate Graham
