Comment 2 Dario Andres 2009-03-07 22:35:12 UTC
Is that panel on the left full-height?
Comment 3 Marco Martin 2009-03-08 18:44:27 UTC
if you move them the next login, they are here again?
Comment 4 Ingo Stierand 2009-03-08 20:44:13 UTC
Dario: indeed, it is.

Marco: it's always the same. I move the icons back to their intended positions. Next time I login they are back. Interestingly, when I move only one of those icons all other icons move too. It seems that the whole folder view snaps back to the correct position.
Comment 5 Ingo Stierand 2009-08-06 20:02:02 UTC
The same thing on KDE 4.3.
Comment 6 Dario Andres 2009-08-26 18:05:00 UTC
I wonder if this could be related to bug 199028. Thanks
Comment 7 Ingo Stierand 2009-09-04 21:58:43 UTC
Beside the fact that I can't see a scrollbar it seems to be the same effect. Someone told for bug 199028 that he has to rearrange its icon(s) on each third or so login. But I get it on each login. Some other told that this happens only if some icons are too close to the border. I will check whether the effect occurs also when placing the icons somewhere else.
Comment 8 Ingo Stierand 2009-09-04 22:14:45 UTC
With placing the icons somewhere in the middle the thing becomes even more strange. On each login they 'wander' a little more to the left (where my panel is). The length of the offset seems to be the grid width. Indeed, I have enabled 'placing on grid'. I will try it with disabling this option...
Comment 9 Ingo Stierand 2009-09-04 22:34:22 UTC
It doesn't matter whether the option 'align symbols to grid' (I don't know exactly because I use another locale) is enabled or not. But the length of the displacement is definitely not the grid size.

After having another look at bug 199028, it seems to me that the icons wander in the direction of the panel. As I said my panel sits on the left edge. Comment #8 seems to be closest related to this bug. Tanja said that, when she drags an icon to the bottom, it will be aligned somewhere inbetween two rows. This is also true for the length of the displacement on login which is smaller as the grid size. However, I don't remember that I have such a problem with dragging icons.

I could not reproduce the bug under KDE SC 4.3.4.
