Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs Hi, I would like to see that Kwin decorations would be themable like plasma widgets (with svg's). It could be used like this: - plasma themes would have a folder called "kwin" or "decoration" - inside the folder you will find one or two svg's with the deco itself (deco-topleft, deco-top, etc.) and the buttons - in systemsettings you can choose if the decoration of the plasma theme should be used or one of the hardcoded ones (using this also as fallback, if no decoration is found inside the theme) If this would be available the cooperation between plasma and kwin will get a step further and the personal desktop more flexible. Thanks in advance!
I believe this is what the DeKorator decoration is for.
Not really, because it doesn't work with real translucency. You can set global translucency, but if you do that also the window-title and buttons will be translucent.
Marcel, the missing translucency is not a deKorator problem, and will also not be fixed by just using SVG Plasma themes for the decoration. KWin needs to support ARGB visuals for the decorations first, then adding translucency to deKorator will be no problem.

I simply feel that the current window decorations seem out of place and almost ugly when placed next to plasma's sexiness. I have been searching for a plasma themed decorator since plasma first came about.
took me <20 secs on kde-look... http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Plasma+deKorator?content=98705 it doesn't fit my personal taste, though (i'd have a preference for the deco-matches-window thing, rather than "hey: it's transparent. just like vista")
There is a new theme engine: Aurorae You can find it on kde-look: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?action=content&content=107158 and in svn: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/artwork/aurorae/
