konqueror -> properties -> edit file type -> apply --> endless save loop

This bug is confirmed. When you rt-click a file in konqueror and choose properties, the click the little configuration icon, change the order of the applications and embedding and then Apply, you a put in an endless loop of the saving configuration dialog going from 0 -> 100% until you click cancel which discards your changes. No workaround found. This means you have NO ability to change the application order or embedding within konqueror. This is with KDE4.2.96 (BETA 2).

This bug has been open for a while with no progress. This is a huge piece of broken capability.

Aargh!

This is so frustrating, I can't even use the menu editor in kde4 because every time I click save, it just goes into an endless loop and the only way out of it is to hit cancel. Nothing is saved in kde4 and your new menu entries are gone forcing you to logout of kde4 and go back to kde3 to make changes to your menu.

The totally BIZARRE part of this is when you logout of kde4 and login to kde3, you find all the menu entries you thought didn't save in kde4 are now in your menu in kde3. (nothing like 3 copies of xterm in a new menu) This shows the entries were actually saved, but kde4 does not recognize that fact because it is still stuck in its endless "updating system configuration" loop. What gives?

Repeatable -- Yes always. Just use the "Classic Menu" in kde4, right click the start menu icon and choose menu editor, make changes and hit save. Then that little "updating system configuration" pops up and loops over and over again. Kill it, logout, login to kde3, check your menu and the new entries are there.

   This is in 4.2.96

Ha!

You guys are getting better! I'm using:

KDE Menu Editor
Version 0.8
Using KDE 4.2.98 (KDE 4.2.98 (KDE 4.3 RC3)) "release 150"

and I was able to save my edited configuration. But -- I could see the loop start the second time before the kill occurred. I don't recall it showing 5% on the second loop, but it did start. Regardless, the save worked. Now all we need is the clean up to prevent the progress dialog showing the start of the second loop. Thanks.
