Version: unknown (using 4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)) "release 76.2", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.7-9-default Well, it's been different times i observe that thing in KDE4 releases. The system tray icons can only appear in one system tray widget ; the second system tray containment doesn't get the icons printed/displayed! How to reproduce the observation/bug : 1. The default panel must have the task manager and the system tray widgets 2. Add a Panel 3. Right-click on the new panel, and click on "Add widgets". 4. double-click on the System Tray widget to add it to the new panel. => The box added doesn't contain any icons. => These icons are only shown inside the system tray of the first panel (the default one). That means we can only have 1 system tray widget containing the icons. Adding a new system tray widget works but without any icons inside it! (it is then useless)
This is a limitation of the current xembed protocol Look at bug 180114 comment 2 , and bug 179625 comment 2. The situation will be improved in KDE4.3 :)
