Description Jared Harder 2009-01-15 05:16:20 UTC
Version: 1.1 (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Currently, mounted devices in the Places pane are listed (for me anyways) as "Volume (ext3)" with no further information. Clicking on a particular drive does not give any more information, unless you know exactly what is each drive just by looking at the root. In addition, the drives aren't ordered in any reasonable fashion. An order seems to be specified, and then that's the order you get.

What I'm proposing would be to add a context-menu entry that allows the drive to be renamed, even if on a KDE level. To be able to address a disk by a user name, instead of by a mount point, uuid, or "Volume (ext3)". The rename would affect the Places pane, the quick navigation (I'm not sure what to call it, it's what replaces the actual address bar in Dolphin), and would be ideally accessible by other applications. I'm not too big on the last one, but I can wish right?
