Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources I do not see any way to configure behaviour of recent applications tab in kickoff, specifically: - whether to include recent documents or not (I do not have any use for them) - how many recent applications should be included (it always keeps only five of them).
.. again, not a fan of the "8 billion configuration options that really don't improve life measurably" philosophy. btw, these reports are wishlist, not bugs. they are feature requests =)

Bug 121305 and Bug 126515 are related? It should also be possible to choose which filetypes should appear in that list or alternatively which applications should write to it. As it is now, for me the recent documents list is just useless because it is filled with remote files (webpages/URLs) I'll probably never will visit again and with folders, so I cannot see the files in it that are important for me to see there: Office documents and text files mainly. Folders should have a separate history, they are no "documents".
@Janet: Bug 121305 and Bug 126515 are related to each other, but not to this bug.
There is an entry "MaxApplications" in the kickoffrc file that regulates the number of recent apps in kickoff "Recently Used" tab. I've added it by hand, and it works(after restarting kde). My $HOME/.kde/share/config/kickoffrc file: [Favorites] FavoriteURLs=/usr/share/applications/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop,/usr/share/applications/kde4/konqbrowser.desktop,/usr/share/applications/kde4/systemsettings.desktop,/usr/share/applications/kde4/dolphin.desktop [RecentlyUsed] Applications=bmp.desktop,kde-kaffeine.desktop,kde4-systemsettings.desktop,kde4-gvim.desktop,kde4-gwenview.desktop,scummvm.desktop,kde4-ark.desktop MaxApplications=7
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
