Description Matt Blissett 2008-12-30 01:08:13 UTC
Version: 2.1.3 (using 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27-9-generic

1. Have an irreplaceable 2MB JPEG photograph open in Gwenview
2. Assume that Gwenview's Rotate Right button does the same as the Right Click -> Actions -> Transform -> Rotate Right option did in KDE 3, that is, losslessly rotate the image using jpegtran.
3. Click save
4. Notice the file size is now 500kB. Where did the other 1.5MB of data go?

Even the crappy photo viewer in Windows provides a warning like "Rotating your image like this loses resolution".

Gwenview is supposed to keep exif information and perform lossless rotation. Are you by chance using Ubuntu 8.10? It sounds a lot like bug 176049. If it's the same please close the bug as duplicate.
