Still dying with RC2 here on Windows XP. GF reported it to me, I installed showfoto under XP and confirmed it crashes on mine as well.
/me too, when trying to save a raw image after postprocessing in digikam, as anything but JPEG. Extremely annoying! It seems to depend on the directory content, though. I think it works if there is at least one file of the chosen type already in the directory. Kubuntu 8.10, KDE 4.2.1
interestingly, I can make this bug appear and disappear depending on how I compile digikam and kipi-plugins. The key is "make -j2" vs. plain "make". If I use -j2, the crash happens reliably. If I remove the build dir and then recompile with plain "make", the crash does not happen any more. So, I'm not entirely sure that it's really a KFile problem...
I can confirm this again for digiKam. Try to save an image, select PNG file format... boom! It worked before the KDE 4.2.2 release, but now it is crashing again.
I tried *.pdf in okular and I get "could not open file:///home/dfaure/*.pdf" as expected. Tried digikam, but I never used it before, and I can't figure out how to change the directory of the album.... (!)
Settings -> Configure digikam -> Colletions. Topmost entry.
